I spent the weekend with my former college classmates and this time we went to Mindoro island to escape or forget work even for just two days and of course catch up with each others’ lives.

The boat dropped us off at White Beach… and to my dismay the sand was not white after all. Hehe. A woman offered a room for us to stay for just PHP 2K. It was about 5 minutes to walk to the house but her offer was too good for us to refuse. As far as we know, the cheapest one can get for accomodations is 3K to 4K… and we won’t even be staying in our rooms for sure – we’re spending all our time at the beach so it was a good deal.

We went back to the beach and went for a swim. I put to good use my new Speedo™ goggles and went to some areas that are probably 10ft deep. I can even see some fish below.. and schools of small fish! I took a rest once in a while since it is very tiring to stay afloat with the strong current and all. During that resting period, I enjoyed the view – there were lots of beautiful ladies with some gorgeous bodies. I had to appreciate each and every one of them! :P Sadly, there were only a few gifted ladies – the others probably went to Boracay. I’m looking forward to our Boracay outing then!

Sunset at Galera

Being tired with all that swimming/sightseeing, eating something was definitely the first thing that comes into mind. We ate lots of seafood – shrimp, prawn, tilapia, squid, etc… Luckily, there was no McDonalds or Jollibee or any other fastfood chain there. There was Shakey’s and a halo-halo stall for Chowking though.

One of the things that probably attracts tourists here is the nightlife. Heck, at 12MN you can even see some people still swimming! Beer bottles are practically all over the place – and people dancing to the beat. I particularly liked reggae music while drinking.. it was relaxing. We decided not to get dead-drunk because we wanted to catch the sunrise, just enough so that when we lie in the bed we automatically shut down.

The next morning we repeated the cycle again: swim, scan (ladies of course), and eat. We also paid for a Banana boat ride. The banana ride was awesome! Our ride capsized three times! The driver of the waterboat made us go down at areas that are very deep. I used my goggles and I can’t even see the floor. One kid even got scared he asked to be transferred to the waterboat after the first drop. That was one hell of a ride! >:)

We left Galera with a heavy heart. :( I was even joking if we can stay for another night. Hehe. Sadly, work comes into mind again and ruins all plans of an extended stay here. Still, it was one great weekend. To my other classmates that did not make it: it’s your loss. :P

Next time I go back to Puerto Galera I will:
1. go Snorkeling
2. go Hiking
3. go to other beaches
4. bring my GF along
5. go dead-drunk

I’lll be on another beach this weekend. I wonder if my body can endure more beach weekends….
